Even though the food producers that rely on the River Murray for water are going through a very tough time here in the Riverland of South Australia, there are some great boutique foodie businesses that are producing some delicious, quality products.
Backyard Bread is one of those. I get great delight in working with new businesses and watching them grow and develop over the years. Backyard Bread started out in 2006 making woodfired and flavoured breads, sliced into bite sized pieces. They make a perfect accompaniment to a savoury platter. Of recent times they have introduced gourmet spreads. Their product is found in an abundance of fresh food and gourmet shops.
I have developed the website for them (www.backyardbread.com.au) so you can discover for yourself their story and what they have on offer. Due to demand they now have a distributor, so don't sell directly off of their website.
For the past 8 years I have had the pleasure to design and produce all the promotional items for the annual Loxton Lights Festival, held during December. I am just putting the finishing touches onto the brochure so I can't show you that just yet, but the website has been updated (www.loxtonlights.com). You may want to plan a trip!!
In my last post we had just farewelled our No 1 son and his girlfriend as they left for a 4 week holiday to the US. They had a great time and have returned safely, having a new appreciation of the lifestyle, food and friendliness that we have here in Australia, and in particular Loxton! It has been interesting to hear all their stories of life in a different country. We do seem to take so much for granted.
Since I started this blog, I have found it difficult to post about personal things as it is predominantly a business blog, so I am in the process of developing a personal blog, so I can share the other side of me relating to (home decorating, gardening, baking, family, friends etc). I will then change this blog a bit too so it just reflects business things. If you would like to know when my new personal blog is up and running, send me a message via my 'Email me' link in the top left hand column.

Hi Annette
It's nice to meet another fellow South Aussie blogger!
Yes I love cooking and all things food (and wine) but unfortunately it's starting to all land around my middle so I am currently trying to lost a bit of it by eating healthy without depriving myself of all that lovely flavour. Enter Annette Sym.
I'm a bit like you, married to my wonderful hubby for nearly 24 years, 2 lovely daughters who are our pride and joy, we live in the SE of South Australia and love it.
Over the weekend, I'll back track and catch up on what's been happening on your blog and get to know you better.
Cheers - Joolz
